The Jewellery Quarter Association Ltd was founded in 1990 and its Aims
and Objectives include a dedication to the ‘Conservation, Protection and
improvement of the physical and social environment in the Jewellery Quarter’.
The JQA was formed initially to deal when a major problem erupted regarding ‘car
parking’ - an issue that will always affect business, residential and tourism in
this tightly congested area.
The JQA is at the forefront in the improvement of the working environment which
in turn will encourage businesses to relocate and set up in the Quarter.
As well as ‘helping’ established firms, the JQA look to encourage young
Designer/Makers and other ‘new’ firms and support the Regeneration Team in every
way possible.
The JQA arrange Breakfasts and Seminars at regular intervals which are aimed at
the business community and impart useful information on current problems/issues
as well as providing a chance to network afterwards. Events are paid for by the
sponsors.
Since the JQA’s inception we have been mainly responsible for turning the
Jewellery Quarter into a pleasant, welcoming area with over one hundred retail
shops, the Jewellery Museum, the Pen Museum, and we have pubs, cafes and
restaurants to suit all pockets and tastes, mostly run by small firms. You can
get here by bus, tram, train, car (on street car parking plus large Pay &
Display Car Park in Vyse Street) or on foot from the City Centre.
If you consider locating your business in The Jewellery Quarter, you will find
the population welcoming and you have the option to either share a workshop or
have a whole building to yourself!
We have our own police beat officers and security is good, despite the type of
goods traded here.
